RREC Board Elections
RREC Board Election Time
Districts 2, 3 and 5 to hold director elections this year
Are you interested in becoming a candidate for director on the board of Raft River Rural Electric Co-op, Inc.? This is a great time to get involved, make a difference and become informed regarding the issues affecting your co-op. The cooperative business model has many advantages, but it is the voting process – democratic control – that gives us one of the most influential and desired principles of a cooperative.
If you live in District 2, 3 or 5 and meet the qualifications set forth in the Raft River Electric bylaws, and would like to be nominated for the Raft River Electric board, you must submit a petition form containing 15 or more individual signatures of verified Raft River Electric members. Petition forms for signature are available by calling (208) 645-2211 or (800) 342-7732, stopping by RREC’s headquarters or from RREC’s website, www.rrelectric.com.
Completed nomination petitions must be received in the RREC headquarters in Malta, ID no later than 5:30 pm MST on Friday, January 13, 2017.
Eligibility: All RREC members in good standing, living within said district and receiving electric service from the co-op may become a director, except for employees of the co-op and/or relatives of current co-op employees. (Refer to Article III Section 3 of the RREC bylaws for detailed qualifications.)
Director’s Duties: The directors establish policies and direction for the co-op. The RREC board meets once a month, but the directors are at times asked to travel and represent the co-op at additional meetings. Directors are elected for a three (3) year term.
Director’s Pay: Directors are not paid a salary for their service. They receive a fixed sum for attendance at the monthly board meetings, mileage and expenses paid for any other meeting(s) beneficial to the interest of the co-op.
Annual Meeting: Election results are tallied and announced at this meeting. This year’s annual meeting will be March 14, 2017 at the Raft River High School in Malta, ID.
Balloting: Each membership in the co-op is entitled to one ballot. Each membership can vote for one director from District 2, District 3 and District 5. (Refer to Article II of the RREC bylaws for detailed voting/balloting qualifications.)
Don’t let this unique opportunity, to take an active role in your electric co-op, pass you by.
